Online Registration for 2015-16 League Opening

The Lady General's Basketball Program is happy to announce that registration for the girls' Jr. Generals Basketball League (3rd - 6th graders) will be opening on Thursday, Oct. 1. This year, the program will be joining the Anthony Wayne Youth Foundation (AWYF), which will allow us to take advantage of their online registration system.

Online Registration Details:

Please follow the link below to access the registration portal:

AWYF Registration Page - scroll down to AWJGGBB Junior Generals Girls Basketball

We are looking forward to partnering with the AWYF, because it allows us to ensure that players are experiencing a positive playing experience in a safe environment. Some of the benefits include online registration and background checks for all coaches.

Practice and Game Details:

As in the past, practice will be held one day a week and most games will be played on Saturdays in the morning or afternoon. There is a chance that one or two games would be played on a Sunday, due to gym conflicts. This, however, will depend on the number of players. Practices will start the week of November 9 and games will start Saturday, January 9.

Currently we have practice times reserved in buildings for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. At the coaches' meeting in late October, we will draft practice time. A player's specific day of practice will depend on the team they are placed on, and this information will be shared the first week of November.

We look forward to working with you this year, and seeing your daughter in the gym! Below is a link to a flyer with more information and details. Please review at your convenience.

Thanks in advance for your support as we make this transition. We look forward to still providing a great experience for the girls! Please feel free to forward this information on to anyone who you think might be interested in joining us.

Rescheduled Games - Saturday, Feb. 21

Thanks for your patience while we worked through rescheduling. I was finally able to receive confirmation on gym space, so we are good to go for this weekend.

Please see the schedule and locations below. We are NOT holding tournaments because we do not have enough space to hold those schedules. Instead, we will be playing the Week 1 schedule we missed at the beginning of the league.

Saturday, Feb. 21:

3rd and 4th Grade Games - @ Anthony Wayne High School Aux Gym
12:15 pm - 1 v. 2
1:00 pm - 3 v. 6
1:45 pm - 4 v. 5

5th/6th Grade Games - @ Anthony Wayne Junior High Gym
1:15 pm - 11 v. 12
2:10 pm - 13 v. 14
3:05 pm - 15 v. 14

If your daughter is NOT able to participate in this last week of games, please contact your coach ASAP. We need to make sure that each team has enough players to play at their specified times.

Your coach will be contacting you based on whether or not they will be practicing this week. Due to the extra week, your gym time might not be available.

Thanks for your flexibility - now cross your fingers for NO SNOW!

First Week of Games a Success!

Thanks to all who came out for our first weekend of games today! It was great to see all the players in the gym.

We just wanted to remind everyone that next week's games will be played at different locations due to a wrestling tournament at the high school -

All 3rd and 4th grade games will take place at Fallen Timbers Middle School. All 5th and 6th grade games will take place at the Anthony Wayne Junior High.

Also, if you are looking for something to do this Friday night, it is the last chance to see both the girls' and boy's Varsity teams play on the same night against the Southview Cougars. The girls' Varsity will play at 6:00 pm followed by the boys' Varsity around 7:15 pm.

Thank you in advance for your support!

It's Game Time!

It is that time of the year - can't wait to see you all at our first set of games next Saturday (Jan. 10).
A couple reminders:

1. Games are scheduled to start this coming Saturday (Jan. 10) at the Anthony Wayne High School. If you need another copy of the game schedule, please visit the link below:

**Friendly reminder to all 5th/6th grade participants: One weekend you are scheduled to play two games in order to avoid having an off weekend; please pay attention to this on the schedule.

2. Your daughter's t-shirt or jersey (if needed) will be coming this week at practice.

3. There is NO admission fee charged at games, so we encourage you to bring the whole family! We also do not provide a concession stand, so players need to bring their own water bottles or use the drinking fountains.

4. As we were reminded this morning, we have reached the lovely part of the year where weather affects travel, etc. If we have a Saturday morning or afternoon of rough weather, I will communicate with you as soon as possible if there are changes/cancellations. We will communicate in the following ways: coaches email, participants email, major TV news stations (if they have their cancellation tickers going), program website, and girls' basketball Twitter feed (we encourage you to follow us -  @AW_LadyGenerals).

5. If you are looking for something to do Fridays in January, consider coming out to a basketball game! On Fridays in January, you have the opportunity to come out and see both our girls' and boys' Varsity teams play on the same night. The schedule is listed below, with the girls' Varsity game starting approximately at 6:00 pm, followed by the boys' Varsity game around 7:30 pm. You will only have to pay once to see both games. I know that both teams greatly appreciate your support!
Friday, Jan. 9 - Home vs. Perrysburg
Friday, Jan. 16 - @ Bowling Green
Friday, Jan. 23 - Home vs. Southview
Friday, Jan. 30 - @ Napoleon

As always, in closing I would like to remind you that these games are designed to teach these young girls the game of basketball and perhaps spark a love of the game. Your cheers and POSITIVE support make all the difference for these girls as they run up and down the court. I thank you in advance for your support at each and every game, but remind you that we would really appreciate you staying positive - towards both the young girls and our high school players as they assist on the clocks and as officials in the 3rd/4th grade games.

Thanks again for your support and we will see you in the gym!
